The Age of Autism - Mercury, Medicine, and a Man-Made Epidemic

Authors Dan Olmsted and Mark Blaxill will speak about their groundbreaking new book “The Age of Autism”. Foothill Autism Alliance (FAA) and Talk About Curing Autism (TACA) are teaming up to make this exciting presentation possible.

For centuries, medicine has made reckless use of mercury, one of the earth's most toxic substances, with the tragic consequences often ignored. Today environmental pollution, including global emissions of mercury as well as other toxicants, is also of great concern. This book traces the long overlooked history of mercury poisoning – from “general paralysis of the insane” arising from mercury treatments for syphilis, to Sigmund Freud's first cases of hysteria – from baffling new disorders in 19th century Britain, to the modern epidemic of autism.

Dan and Mark will present their investigation of the first cases of autism diagnosed in the 1940s, in which they found links to the novel use of mercury in seed disinfectants, lumber fungicides and vaccines. They will demonstrate how chemical and environmental clues may have been missed as medical "experts" instead placed blame on parental behavior or children's biology. By exposing the roots and rise of The Age of Autism, this book attempts to point the way out – to a safer future for our children and the planet.

They will also be signing copies of their book, for sale at the reduced price of $20 (retails at $27.99).
